Product Summary

LunaSuite SMS extends your Newton to allow you to send and receive GSM SMS (Short Message Service) messages easily. Instead of typing messages using the cumbersome phone keypad, you simply write your messages directly into your Newton, hit the mail button and send! Sending a message to multiple recipients is a snap, and receiving messages into Newton allows you to archive them, sort, and view them in any order you like.

Sending Messages Send messages direct from Newton's notepad. Immediate (send now) and deferred (send later) supported. Outgoing messages may be queued for transmission later. Integrated with Newton's Names to allow recipients to be chosen by name. "Short Message" Stationery enhances the Notepad: a discrete character counter informs the user of how many characters they've used of the 160 character SMS limit.		SMS   SMS allows messages to be sent from phone to phone by keying alphanumeric messages into a handset. It's the electronic equivalent of the Post-It™ note: messages are non-intrusive; and they're immediate - you don't login to collect them, they come to you. Because messages are short (upto 160 characters), the user is encouraged to be lucid and concise. Further, message transmission and reception is fast and direct. It's also reliable: if the user is off-line or out-of-range, messages are queued at the Message Centre until the user can be contacted, at which point they're delivered.
Receiving Messages Since GSM/PCN phones have a limited memory for received SMS messages, LunaSuite SMS allows messages to be read from the phone into the MessagePad's InBox. There, they're identified with the sender's telephone number, and name, which is picked up from the Names application! The user can now reply or forward incoming messages, and of course mail, print, fax or beam them.
Other Features Both Send and Receive modules are written as Transports, enabling other applications to make use of SMS. Conforms to ETS 07.05

Conforms to ETS 07.05	Compatible with the latest GSM/PCN/PCS phones from Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola and others. Even if a phone manufacturer implements only a subset of the spec, LunaSuite SMS will interrogate the phone to determine which commands it supports, and use the best available set.
