Product Summary

|
|
LunaSuite Mail keeps you in touch when you're mobile. Not
only can you communicate text messages, with LunaSuite Mail
you can send and receive Name Cards, Appointments, audio
recordings and even web pages.
Support for open standards
means great interoperability with other systems, and vCard
support means you can communicate name cards with business
contacts using other systems.
LunaSuite is also an
excellent way to extend your intranet to your mobile
workforce: store your company's name cards on a web server
and download to Newton!

|
Pick up a LunaSuite-enabled Newton,
and you'll wonder where the mail application is. We've integrated
LunaSuite as closely as we could into the Newton: you don't open a
"mail program", you simply go to your InBox and tell it to receive
mail.

To send mail, just write your
message, hit "Mail" and send!
Message
Format To send a message,
simply use the built-in stationery in your Newton. Send a message
using a new Note and it will go as plain text. Choose Outline, and
items will be indented and market with asterisks.
Merge Outgoing
Messages Or send a collection
of items together and LunaSuite will concatenate them.

Newton
Objects The real power of
LunaSuite comes when you mail other Newton objects, such as Dates,
Calls or Audio Recordings. With LunaSuite Web, you can also send and
receive Bookmarks as Newton objects; when you receive them, once Put
Away they'll appear in your Bookmarks collection. Similarly, images
and packages are no problem.
LunaSuite allows you to send Newton
Ink, even as part of a message's subject.
You can also send an Audio Recording
to another Newton user - true Voice Mail:

Exchanging Business
Cards
|
|
|
LunaSuite supports the open vCard standard.
LunaSuite support for vCard
is transparent and seamless. If someone sends you a vCard,
you can immediately put it away into your Names collection.
To send someone a vCard, simply mail the Name you want to
send. It's as simple as that!
Because the vCard standard
is open, you can even exchange business cards with users of
Netscape Communicator 4, Lotus Organizer 97 GS, Microsoft
Outlook 97, and other vCard-aware applications.

vCard
|
|

vCard is an open standard for electronic
business cards. Representing business cards in
electronic form enables a variety of things to
happen: you can collect them together, sort and
search them, send them to others, or access them
through web pages or search engines.
They contain a
number of fields for phone numbers, street
addresses, mail addresses, and even company logos,
live Web addresses or pictures. They can store as
many or as few contact details as you want and can
reduce the need to re-type email addresses or
telephone numbers.
The vCard
specification is available from the Internet
Mail Consortium.

|
Distribution
Lists are supported: you can
mail to a group of people using the 'group' feature in the Names
application.
Messaging
Functions Features such as
'reply', 'forward' and 'redirect' are of course included. There's
also the ability to add the sender of a message to the Names
application

Scheduled
pickups Want to wake
up in your hotel room with your morning's email freshly
downloaded? No problem. Use the "Activate Periodically"
feature to have your email collected whenever you
like:

Displaying incoming
messages One problem with
mail applications on other platforms: to view messages containing
attachments, you start an external 'helper' application. Not so with
Newton! Your message is decoded right there in the InBox and
displayed using 'stationery'.
Take a look at the above example
containing a radio commercial - you can play it immediately. The
benefit is that LunaSuite Mail's seamless operation makes it easy to
work with.
Remote Messages LunaSuite Mail's Browse mode
downloads headers first and stores messages as 'remote'. Each message
will then be downloaded in the background. To have messages
downloaded first, tap them. 'Remote' messages can be kept in the
InBox after disconnecting, and operations such as retrieve and delete
may be performed on them.
Large messages (over a configurable size) may be left on the
server. A 'remote' message is placed in the InBox, allowing you to
retrieve the message if you want to.
Access to multiple
accounts is easy: simply
configure further Newton Owner cards, one for each account you want
to access.
A plug-in API allows for
other transports to make use of this framework. Through the merge
feature, two items in the outbox can be merged into one. This is
useful for attaching some data to an email written in the
Notepad.
The support for MIME types can be
easily extended by third-party developers through the extensive
API.
